Range/Habitat: Southeast Asia. Arboreal near water.

 

Sexing: Males tend to have brighter colors, larger heads and well defined femoral pores.

 

Size: Chinese specimens can reach 3 ½ feet. Most Asian specimens average under 3 feet.

 

Husbandry: Water dragons need a spacious cage. Minimum 29 gallon with a land area and a water area. They like to swim. Adult males will fight. Mostly carnivorous. Will take insects fish and some commercial diets. A wide spectrum UVB bulb basking area needed. Temperatures in the 80’s. Vitamin supplements helpful.

 

Breeding: Egg layers with clutches of 8-14 eggs. Babies should never be placed with adults. Reduce photoperiod and temperatures into the 70’s.
