Range/Habitat: Solomon Islands in Tropical Forests.
Sexing: Males tend to have bulkier bulldog like heads. It is possible to get a hemipene to evert on males. Sight sexing difficult unless you have a large group.
Size: Reaches a maximum of 28 inches.
Husbandry: A very social animal. They live in groups in tree hollows. Never introduce a new specimen into an already established group. Needs a large spacious cage. Minimum 55 gallon for 1 specimen. High humidity-60-80%. Temperatures in the 80’s with drops at night in the 70’s. Does not require a basking light but, temperatures in 80’s a must. Feeds on figs and fruits as well as creeper vine in the wild. In captivity feed, kale, squash, bananas, melon, romaine etc. Vitamin supplements a must. Needs a hollow log or hide box. Meats can be supplemented into diet. Nocturnal/Crespular
Breeding: Solomon Skinks are live bearers. They give birth to 1 and rarely 2 very large babies. It is recommended to keep babies with the mothers. Breed every 2-3 years due to long gestation. Rarely bred in captivity.
