Range/Habitat: Asia Minor, Turkmenia to Northwest India. Most are Afghanistan or Pakistan origin.(imports)
Sexing: Males have a noticeable bulge at the base of the tail. Femoral pores present.
Size: Reaches 10 inches. Average size 7-8 inches.
Husbandry: Most are captive bred and very easy to keep. Imports can be problematic. Numerous morphs available. Males will fight. Best in small groups of 1 male 2 females. Can be kept in small terrariums. 10 gallon. Feeds on insects. Vitamin supplements especially calcium needed in females. Nocturnal/Crepuscular. Ground dwellers. Day temperatures in the 80’s with small night time drops.
Breeding: Lays 2-3 eggs up to 4 times during breeding season. Reduce photoperiod and temperatures to induce breeding.
