Horned/Pacman Frogs (Ceratophrys Ornata)
Difficulty/Care Rating: 9(Easy!)
Range/Habitat: Brazil and Argentina.
Sexing: Females tend to be much larger than males. Males have a darker throat and nuptial pads on the front feet.
Size: These blimps of the frog world reach 51/2-6 inches.
Husbandry: Horned frogs can do well in small terrariums. 10 Gallon size for 1. They are voracious eating, fish, insects, small mice. Do not keep different sizes together they will eat each other! Temperatures in the upper 70’s with high 80% humidity. Best kept on gravel with half water half land. A small hide area is helpful. Can take cooler temperatures. Vitamin supplements helpful. No basking lamps needed. Clean water often.
Breeding: 1,000-2,000 eggs! Too much detail to go into for breeding here.
